Beautiful Lady Athena Seeking Her Forever Family Spayed/Vaccinated in Bacone, Oklahoma For Sale

Beautiful Lady Athena was left outside to fend for herself all winter until one day a kind home health nurse took Athena home and immediately had her spayed. We are her foster family and here is what we have observed about this sweet young lady. When she first arrived, she was skittish, especially around our other animals so we thought perhaps she needed to be an "only" pet. However, she calmed down quite nicely though it did take her a couple of months to really relax -- so keep in mind, you will need to be patient with her while she settles in. She literally spent her first couple of weeks hiding under our recliner and only coming out at night when there was only one person and NO animals around. We gave her treats and soon discovered a diamond underneath that fearful exterior. In a much quieter environment she would probably settle in much more quickly.
While she did not appear to like our other cat or kitten at first, now she plays with them but it took a couple of months for her to feel secure enough to do so. She tolerates our large dog as long as he keeps his distance (but he's been known to be unreliable when it comes to the cats) but does just fine with our small chi. She is very curious and loving -- she's also a quick moving cat and is startled easily but she always comes right back again to peek her head up over the table (or around the corner). She talks to you in a very meek mannered squeak and is always ready for your attention -- occasionally she will give you a little love "nip" to let you know she wasn't quite ready for you to quit petting her yet. She's very eager to be petted and loves her people -- we believe this is the first home where she has actually been cared for and had an opportunity to feel secure, possibly for the very first time in her life. She has bloomed like a gorgeous flower, each day we see her become more like a young cat with a playful personality than the terrified street cat who had just suffered much trauma and upheaval (not to mention a spay surgery).
Athena is a complete joy and is just waiting for her forever home so she can relax and be at peace. She loves to be petted, especially adores having underneath her chin scratched and will even roll over and let you rub her belly, which is a sign of trust. We estimate her to be under two years old, she has been spayed, has had her rabies vaccination and we have treated her for ear mites. She uses her litter box without any issues and just really has a beautiful personality. I do not think she would be the best match for young children unless they were just occasional visitors and she had somewhere she could hide when they were visiting, at least until she gets to know them and feels secure in her new home.
